'Slammin' Sam' Takes Home Prestigious ASC Media Award

Slammin' Sam, Beyond's specially-commissioned profile of champion rugby league footballer, Clive Churchill medallist and South Sydney Rabbitohs 2014 Premiership player Sam Burgess, has won the prestigious Australian Sports Commission Media Award for best profiling of an athlete, team or coach.

Burgess, a precocious rugby league talent from working class Yorkshire who made his international debut at the age of 17, signed with the South Sydney Rabbitohs in 2010 and is widely regarded as the premier forward in the game. Slammin' Sam is an intimate portrayal of the trials and tribulations of the young star, his strong family bonds, and his part in the success of the South Sydney Rabbitohs over the past few seasons. In 2014, Sam fulfilled a lifetime dream of playing in an NRL Grand Final producing one of the most courageous performances in history to spearhead his team to an NRL Premiership win. Sam also was awarded the 2014 Clive Churchill Medal as Man of the Match.
