TELEVISION SALES EXCEED BUDGET IN FIRST QUARTER

Beyond International Limited’s (ASX-BYI) television sales division has exceeded its budgeted sales and profit contribution for the quarter ended 30th September. It is expected to continue to perform ahead of budgeted sales and profit for the six months to 31 December 2003. Costs will continue to be tightly controlled.
New sales negotiated include:
1. Pan-Latin satellite channel Momentum, Mexico – which recently launched in the US Hispanic market in addition to its Latin America coverage - of 137 hours of science, adventure/travel and documentary programming. Titles include BEYOND TOMORROW (44 x 30min), THE ELEGANT SOLUTION (13 x 30min) and PILOT GUIDES SERIES XX (26 x 60min)
2. NRK Norway have purchased a sixth series of drama series STINGERS (14 x 60min), following strong ratings posted by series 5 of the show
3. Zone Vision’s Reality TV Channel, which has recently secured a carriage deal in the US, acquired 50 hours of programming, including 12 x 30min disaster series AGAINST THE ODDS and one-hour special WHEN WOMEN KILL
The Company is actively acquiring new program rights and 155 hours of television programming have been secured from third party producers since January 2003. Future television distribution guarantees have decreased by $715,000 to $3.202.000 at 30 September 2003 compared with $3.917,000 at 31 December 2002.
These new acquisitions include drama series The Cooks (13 * 1 hours), 26 x 30min lifestyle series BEER TV, one-hour documentary specials A PUG’S LIFE and HULA GIRLS, science documentary SCIENCE OF MIRACLES (5 x 30min) and high-end history/factual series SECRET FILES OF THE INQUISITION (4 x 60min).
The international market for completed television programs has been improving over the 2003 calendar year. In addition to the new programs noted above, the programs being produced by the drama joint venture companies and internal production company, Beyond has a catalogue of over 5000 completed hours of television programs available for international exploitation. Beyond has an experienced team of sales executives based at its offices in London, New York and Sydney to market these rights.
