dSP Beyond – New Beyond International Production Company

September 1st, 2005: Beyond International Limited (ASX: BYI) has acquired a 51% interest in the business of dSP Television with the establishment of dSP Beyond Pty Limited (dSPB).

The new company will be headed by Denis Spencer and will focus on producing a wide range of television programs including game shows, entertainment, reality, and variety programs in Australia and New Zealand.

The new production company will broaden the range of programs that Beyond can offer its customers in Australia and internationally. The company will also broaden Beyond’s customer base through Denis’ long standing relationships with all the Australian and New Zealand free to air channels as well as the cable networks.

The first programs to be produced by dSPB include AFL Lovematch and Beauty and the Beast for Foxtel. There are a number of additional projects in the final stages of development.

All finished programs and formats created by dSPB will be marketed internationally by Beyond through its offices in Dublin, London, Sydney and the USA.

Denis Spencer CEO of the new venture said;

In 2000 Denis sold his highly successful independent production company to Southern Star Endemol (SSE) and was appointed as the Chief Executive of SSE. During his four years at SSE Denis was responsible for selling and overseeing such major television successes as Big Brother, Deal or No Deal and creating Strictly Dancing. Since leaving SSE Denis was appointed by the Nine Network as a Consultant and executive producer of the 2005 Logie Awards.

With over 35 years experience in the television industry Denis has produced and directed every genre of television production – variety, game shows, major sport, news, current affairs, comedy, drama, promos and commercials. Career highlights include: -

1975 to 1986: Director of Production Network Ten. Programme Director Channel 10 Brisbane.
1986 to 1988: Director of Production for the Grundy Organization.
1988 to 1991: Director of Programming (Television) for Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
1995 to 2000: Managing Director of Denis Spencer Productions (New Zealand) Limited.
