London, 27 June – Beyond Distribution has secured a number of deals from its feature film catalogue with Eastern European broadcasters at DISCOP 2003, it was announced today by Emma Simpkins, Beyond’s senior sales executive for the region.
New Romanian channel National TV/SC ABC Plus, due to launch this summer, has acquired a raft of feature films from Beyond, in a package deal including titles such as SPOTSWOOD (Anthony Hopkins & Russell Crowe), SUMMER CITY (Mel Gibson), PAPERBACK HERO (Hugh Jackman), LOOKING FOR ALIBRANDI (Anthony La Palgia), THE CRAIC and SLC PUNK!,
In addition, following the success of BLACKROCK (Heath Ledger) and a number of other Beyond films that Ale Kino, Canal+ Poland’s thematic movie channel, picked up in a fifteen film package deal last year, Ale Kino have just licensed HOTEL SORRENTO and LILIAN’S STORY.
Baz Luhrmann’s STRICTLY BALLROOM is still proving popular ten years on, having just secured a DVD and Home Video distribution deal with Intercom Hungary. Indeed, feature films from Beyond’s extensive catalogue are being snapped up by DVD and Home Video clients across Central and Eastern Europe, including a deal with CD Land for DVD rights to WOGBOY, RUSSIAN DOLL, KISS OR KILL, ALL THE WAY and WHAT BECOMES OF THE BROKEN HEARTED for Hungary and Israel.
Beyond Distribution's film catalogue boasts over 120 titles across a broad variety of genres, featuring an array of talent including Academy Award winners Nicole Kidman & Russell Crowe, X2 and X-MEN star Hugh Jackman, Academy Award nominee Toni Collette, and Hollywood newcomer and MULHOLLAND DRIVE star Naomi Watts.
