Sydney, Australia, 7 May 2002 - Following excellent responses from international audiences, Beyond distributed feature film, Business of Strangers, will have an Australian platform release, initially in Sydney and Melbourne on May 23. Meanwhile Lantana continues to win international acclaim, taking out the Jury Prize and International Critics' Prize at the French Film Festival at Cognac, as well as being accepted into the Munich and Shanghai Film Festivals.
Produced by Susan A. Stover and Robert H. Nathan, Business of Strangers follows in the footsteps of Lantana as a tightly drawn drama. Starring Julia Stiles (Save the Last Dance, 10 Things I Hate About You) and Stockard Channing (Where the Heart is, First Wives Club), Business of Strangers is about a successful business woman and her new assistant locked in a battle of power, authority and wit.
Gaining official selection at the Sundance Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival, Beyond has already sold the rights to Business of Strangers to Canada, UK, Greece, Greek Cyprus, Bulgaria, Turkey, Scandinavia and Iceland.
"This film explores topical issues surrounding feminism and power. Great performances by Channing and Stiles make it a must see for both art house movie goers and more mainstream film lovers," said Mikael Borglund, Managing Director of Beyond International.
Produced by Jan Chapman and distributed by Beyond, Lantana's most recent acclaim at the French Film Festival, and its selection into the Munich and Shanghai film festivals, follows on from its successes at the Toronto Film Festival, San Sebastian Film Festival, Telluride International Film Festival, Sydney International Film Festival, Brisbane International Film Festival, and as the winner of seven AFI awards, including Best Film and Best Actor and Actress.
"These latest awards and the continued successful release of Lantana in the US, further prove Lantana's appeal to critics, judges and the general public alike," said Borglund.
