For most of us sleep is a welcome visitor at the end of a long day. But for people with narcolepsy, sleep is a thief – robbing them of years of their lives.
Justine is a student whose sleep attacks are so severe that she almost died when she collapsed into her dinner. Hotel receptionist, Sharon, finds her attacks can be brought on by any strong emotion. Cher suffered chronic sleep attacks and terrifying narcolepsy-related nightmares for twenty-one years before finally making a self-diagnosis and finding a way to live with her condition.
Documenting the experiences of these three women as they go about their daily lives, A Sleepy Life shows how everyday activities such as driving, bathing and eating, can become life-threatening events, and how these women and their families, cope with the battle to stay awake.
