London, 26 June – Beyond Distribution has signed a range of deals with Eastern European broadcasters at DISCOP 2003, it was announced today by Emma Simpkins, Beyond’s senior sales executive for the region.
Children’s titles have been doing particularly well in the region since MIP TV, and sales include the licensing of LIZZIE’S LIBRARY to Israel’s Hop! The Nursery Channel, THE ADVENTURES OF SKIPPY to Romania and GLAD RAGS and MISERY GUTS to TV Polania, Poland.
From Beyond’s Factual catalogue, SCIENCE FRONTIERS, a six part series, will air on Channel One Russia’s new documentary slot, “A New Day”. TVP Poland has picked up a raft of factual programming including the award-winning PRIVATE LIVES strand, the SUPER SURGERY series and one hour special BORN AGAINST THE ODDS. TVFBH Bosnia Herzegovina has secured a package of documentaries including PLAYING THE GAME, RISK, BRAIN ATTACK and ERUPTIONS ON EARTH.
In the travel sector, multi award-winning series PILOT GUIDES continues to notch up sales, including deals with AQS in the Czech Republic and Slovak Republic as well as to SPEKTRUM Hungary. The series is already a staple of RTV Slovenia’s Sunday afternoon slot, and Series 9 – including features on the Arab Gulf states, Morocco and New York city – is currently in production.
