Sydney, 5 August 2003 - Beyond Distribution, Australia's leading international sales agent, has secured a strong line-up of acquisitions due for broadcast in 2004 across all major Australian networks, it was announced today by Fiona Crago, Beyond Distribution’s General Manager.
“I am happy to confirm Beyond’s involvement with an impressively diverse range of programs from high profile Australian producers,” says Crago. “Beyond is proud to continue to bring innovation to drama and children’s product and these programs will make a substantial addition to our catalogue.”
Small Claims, a 1x 100’ mystery thriller tele-feature, stars Rebecca Gibney (Halifax f.p.) and Claudia Karvan (Secret Life Of Us). Juggling murder and mayhem with motherhood and bad-hair days, Gibney and Karvan are an unlikely pair of sleuths in the world of amateur detection. Directed by Cheire Nolan (Thank God He Met Lizzie), Small Claims is an RB production and will screen on Network Ten Australia.
Also to air on Network Ten in 2004 with worldwide distribution by Beyond, The Cooks (working title) is a 13x 60’ drama about love, life and two restaurants battling it out in the world of food and fads. Produced by Penny Chapman (Temptation), this bold twenty-something series is about food and seduction - and the lengths two restaurateurs will go to in order to win the affections of their clients and their critics.
New McDonald’s Farm is an innovative 45x 25’ series for pre-schoolers commissioned by Nine Network Australia and produced by Pacific & Beyond. Aimed at children aged 2-5 years, this original series combines live action with studio pieces to tell the tale of Farmer and Mrs Mac and their animal friends. Executive Producer Ron Saunders (Spellbinder, Johnson & Friends) joins with director Ian Monro (Hi 5) and writer Simon Hopkinson (Bananas in Pyjamas) to take children’s television in a new direction for 2004.
New Liberty and Beyond production Through My Eyes is one of the centrepieces of Seven Network Australia’s drama slate just announced for 2004. Based on the true story of Australia’s most intriguing disappearance case, this 2 x 120’ mini-series is a dramatisation of what really happened to Azaria Chamberlain that night in Uluru (Ayer’s Rock). Lindy
Chamberlain - famously accused of the murder of her baby daughter, jailed and subsequently released - consults for this series to tell the story through the eyes of the people involved.
