Slated for Summer 2005 delivery, the series was created by Emmy award-winning Executive Producer David Rabinovitch and Series Producer William Cobban and tells the story of the Catholic Church’s struggle to remain the world’s only true Christian religion. From the 13th to the 19th centuries, a system of mass terror reigned, with countless thousands being subjected to secret courts, torture and extermination at the stake. It is a story of epic proportions and powerful themes – of Holy Wars and Crusades, of torture and terror, of the struggle for human rights and dignity. Individual episodes focus on the Inquisitions in France, Spain, and Italy.
Commissioned by US public broadcaster PBS, SECRET FILES OF THE INQUISITION is produced by Inquisition Productions, with production partners New Atlantis, (Spain), and EPI, Discovery Canada’s production arm; and confirmed broadcasters including Vision TV, (Canada) and France 5. Beyond Distribution has picked up all rights except publishing for all territories worldwide excluding Canada, Spain and Portugal, first window and home video in the US, and first window in France.
