PROGRAMMING FOR INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY - MARCH 8

International Women's Day (8 March) is marked by women's groups around the world. It is commemorated at the United Nations and is designated in many countries as a national holiday. When women on all continents, regardless of ethnic, cultural, economic or political differences come together they celebrate ordinary women as makers of history.

Here are just a few programs of inspirational women from around the globe...

MAMA TINA - the remarkable and inspiring story of one woman's fight to make a difference. Christina Noble is an ordinary person who has an extraordinary life. With her trademark humour and exuberance, Mama Tina's mission is to struggle against social injustice. From her beginnings in Dublin, to the streets of war-ravaged Vietnam, this is a story of hope and achievement in a world of hopelessness and tragedy.

TO HELL AND BACK : TANJAS' STORY - extraordinary, disturbing and inspirational true story of a woman who reclaimed her life after being kept as a sex slave by her father for 23 years. She escaped to tell her story and put him behind bars and now retraces her life from her childhood in Vanuatu to her adulthood in Auckland to show "the ease with which abuse can start and the difficulties in ending it". Using documented evidence,Tanjas made this documentary to try to give others who may be trapped in a similar situation the courage and strength to break free.
