Heading the impressive line-up are two new drama programs. - THE COOKS (13x60') is the delicious new series centred around two rival restaurants going all out to win the hearts, and mouths, of their clients and critics. Helmed by producer Penny Chapman (“Brides of Christ”) and with a fresh new cast and original soundtrack, THE COOKS will leave viewers craving more.
Mystery thriller SMALL CLAIMS, 1x100', stars internationally successful Rebecca Gibney (Halifax f.p.) and Claudia Karvan (The Secret Life of Us). Murder and mayhem interrupt the lives of two suburban mothers who are battling to keep their cool in the pursuit of justice.
MYTHBUSTERS, 16x60', has achieved impressive ratings in the US prior to its international release. Currently screening on the Discovery Channel US, it has attracted viewers of all ages and captures consistently solid ratings. An innovative new series which puts a spin on science, two Hollywood special fx experts host the series and bring their quirky sense of humour to experiments which test universal urban 'myths'. A recent feature of the "Outstanding programs of 2003" session at the 11th World Congress of Science Producers held in Paris, MYTHBUSTERS is a hot topic of conversation.
NEW MCDONALD'S FARM, 45x25', a colourful new series aimed at pre-schoolers, is set on Farmer McDonalds's farm and has an emphasis on music and songs children will love. Combining live action with studio pieces, pre-schoolers are introduced to concepts of sharing and friendship in a fun environment. From the team behind the successful "Banana's in Pyjama's" and "Johnson & Friends", this innovative series will educate, entertain and delight the 2-5 year old set.
Ripping science out of the classroom and hurling it into the real world, BACKYARD SCIENCE, 26x30' or 52x15', is science for kids by kids. The series has a strong focus on fun as it helps children unravel the mysteries of life, the universe and everything - all from their own backyard. Easily reversioned for any territory, the series has already racked up sales in France, Germany, Italy, South Africa, Australia, Hong Kong, Canada, Singapore, Finland and Israel.
MIP 04 sees the launch of the latest series of Beyond’s internationally successful drama STINGERS 22x60'. Now in its eighth season with a total of 186 episodes, this is the series that has the Herald Sun (UK) proclaiming "This show is good!" Inspired by true events, STINGERS explores the lives of five undercover operatives and their experiences of crime and desire, anonymity, love and betrayal. To date STINGERS has been sold to a host of territories including France, South Africa, New Zealand, Denmark, Poland, Netherlands, Turkey and Egypt, and the latest series is being touted as its greatest yet with pre-sales already confirmed.
