Discovery Channel, U.S. has ordered a second season of its ratings winner, MYTHBUSTERS, from Beyond Productions. Achieving strong ratings on the Discovery Channel this season, MYTHBUSTERS is creating a major buzz prior to its international launch at MIP 2004, where Beyond Distribution will offer all 45 episodes.
Mikael Borglund, MD, Beyond International says, “MYTHBUSTERS breaks the traditional mould of science programming and audiences have been captivated. We can’t wait for the rest of the world to see this title.”
On the heels of the Discovery order comes the sale of the first 16 episodes of the series to Discovery Latin America, as well as broadcasters in Malaysia, Africa and Israel.
A recent feature of the "Science Meets Entertainment" session at the 11th World Congress of Science Producers held in Paris, MYTHBUSTERS has been heralded as the changing face of science programming.
Can you explode a gas station if you use your mobile phone when filling up your tank? Does a gold fish have a memory longer than three seconds? And do you get wetter running or walking in the rain? These are only some of the issues that are tackled by the two Hollywood special FX experts who host MYTHBUSTERS. With their trademark quirky sense of humour, they use every trick in the book to test universal ‘myths’ and bring a whole new perspective to the impact of science and technology on everyday life.
