THROUGH MY EYES HITS THE HEADLINES

Sydney, 14th July 2004 – A furore has erupted in Australia centring around THROUGH MY EYES, Beyond Distribution’s big budget drama mini-series, currently being shot in the Northern Territory.

THROUGH MY EYES (2 x 120’) reveals the true story behind the disappearance of baby Azaria Chamberlain at Uluru in Australia’s outback almost 25 years ago. The mini series is being produced with mother Lindy Chamberlain-Creighton’s collaboration. Chamberlain-Creighton was convicted of murdering her child and jailed in 1982 but later pardoned. However, baby Azaria’s body was never found and the case has never been closed.

Now, in a dramatic twist, the story has again hit front-page news throughout Australia following sensational claims by Melbourne resident Frank Cole, 78. Australian media have been in a frenzy since Cole revealed his 25 year old secret and claimed it was he who found baby Azaria's body in the jaws of a dingo he shot near Uluru in 1980.

Cole claims he and his group of friends stayed silent as hundreds of people began a frantic search at Uluru for the baby. Cole said he believed his friends may have buried Azaria’s body in the backyard of a suburban Melbourne house.

The new claims further support the testimony of mother Lindy Chamberlain-Creighton and reinforce her belief that the truth has never been fully revealed. Currently at Uluru on the set of THROUGH MY EYES, Mrs Chamberlain-Creighton said she wanted nothing more than for the 24-year-old saga to end.

"For years I have been saying I want to see a final finding on Azaria's death certificate," she said. "It would be nice if he (Cole) was right because it could put everything to rest and prove that what the Crown said was wrong because here's the evidence in front of them."

THROUGH MY EYES features an all-star cast including Miranda Otto (Lord of the Rings). The story was first brought into the international spotlight by Meryl Steep’s portrayal of mother Lindy in A Cry in the Dark (aka Evil Angels) in 1988.

THROUGH MY EYES is being produced by TV veterans Tony Cavanaugh and Simone North of Liberty & Beyond (Open Cut, Adrenalin Junkies, Fire, Day Of The Roses) and will premiere on the Seven Network Australia later this year with a worldwide launch at MIPCOM 04.
