Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, Beyond Distribution, Australia's leading international distribution company, is heading to Cannes for a bumper MIPCOM 2004. With a line-up set to excite, the slate spans big budget drama titles, engrossing children’s series and innovative lifestyle entertainment programming.
THROUGH MY EYES (2 x 120’) is a dramatic mini-series from producers Liberty & Beyond. Revealing the previously untold story behind the disappearance of baby Azaria Chamberlain at Uluru in August 1980, it features an all-star cast including Miranda Otto (Lord of the Rings), and Peter O’Brien (Neighbours, Flying Doctors). Azaria’s mother Lindy Chamberlain-Creighton is collaborating on the project.
BIG REEF (1 x 90’) is set in a town called Paradise and follows the romantic adventures of five eccentric rogues. Pristine beaches and wide blue sea are just part of the allure - there’s ancient treasure beyond the shore and a giant crocodile on the loose! The cast features established actors including Steve Bisley (Water Rats, Halifax f.p) and is produced by the internationally acclaimed Beyond Simpson Le Mesurier stable (Halifax f.p, Stingers). There are plans to spin the telemovie into a series.
SILVER SUN (40 x 30’), a futuristic new children’s live action series set in an ultra-modern spaceship in the year 2052 is also from Beyond Simpson Le Mesurier. For the young crew of the Star Runner theirs is a mission of breath-taking proportion. It is their task to ensure the safe delivery of 550 cryonically suspended New Settlers and pave the way for a new world. They are two years into a journey to the Silver Sun, a planet located in a distant solar system and they have a long way to go and lots of growing up to do in between!
GIFT OF LIFE (6 x 60’) is a documentary series that follows the life and death struggle of a number of people waiting for an organ transplant. We see their fears, their frustrations and their prayers as they line up on the transplant waiting list for the only thing that can save them - an organ transplant. The series goes behind the the Gift of Life organ donor program in Philadelphia, which is one of the most successful organ procurement programs in the United States.
