Sydney, 2nd May 2005 – Miranda Otto has won the Most Outstanding Actress Award at the 2005 Logies for her role as Lindy Chamberlain in Beyond Distribution’s big budget event drama THROUGH MY EYES (2 x 2 hour).
THROUGH MY EYES is based on the dramatic true story of the disappearance of Azaria Chamberlain at Uluru (Ayer’s Rock) in 1980. Produced by Liberty and Beyond, the mini-series stars Miranda Otto (Lord of the Rings, The War of the Worlds)), Paul Mercurio (Strictly Ballroom) and John McArdle (Brookside, Merseybeat, The Bill, Peak Practice, Cracker, Kavanagh QC). It was one of the highest rated miniseries on Australian television when it premiered late last year on the Seven Network.
Otto’s critically acclaimed performance as Lindy Chamberlain has now been recognised by the television industry with the highest award an actress can receive at the Logies.
“It’s truly fitting to have industry recognition for such a talented actress. Miranda gave an outstanding performance in THROUGH MY EYES and audiences were gripped by her portrayal of a mother fighting for justice” says Fiona Crago, General Manager of Beyond Distribution. “International audiences also respond to the mini-series because it tells a universal story about the fight for truth. The mini-series has already generated substantial interest from overseas broadcasters
