All Aboard Australia's Greatest Train Journey

11th July 2018

Stretching majestically for 2,979km between Adelaide and Darwin, The Ghan passenger train service is an Australian institution. This beautifully shot feature – captured through the use of 12 onboard cameras, helicopter footage and external camera shots – is punctuated through the use of onscreen captions to explain the roles of indigenous communities, Chinese, Afghan and European immigrants in shaping the landscape to provide a historical, cultural and literal snapshot of the very heart of Australia.

Having achieved SBS’s best ratings for 12 months, the series mesmerised Australian audiences.

The Ghan: Australia's Greatest Train Journey is out now on DVD.
