Beyond Entertainment specialises in the development and production of documentaries, drama, factual and children’s programs. This is what we have coming up:
Children's
The littlies can look forward to more adventures inspired by songs by the Beatles in the new series of Beat Bugs, the animation series centred around five bugs living in an overgrown suburban backyard. A new series is currently in production and will feature new guest artists, including Rod Stewart, Robbie Williams and Jennifer Hudson. A one hour special is also currently in production.
Beat Bugs was created by long time Beatles fan Josh Wakely who acquired worldwide rights from Sony/ATV Music Publishing to a catalogue of music by the Beatles to feature in the series.
The program received an AACTA Award for Best Children's Television Series and an AWGIE Award in animation for an episode script in 2016.
Also for the kids: Coming to screens later this year on Channel 9 is Fanshaw & Crudnut, an animated series about a couple of bickering slugs doing stoopid and dangerous stuff in outer space, plus a telemovie Attack of the Slug Santas - not to be missed at Christmas. Fanshaw & Crudnut was created by and co-produced by Blue Rocket Productions and Beyond Entertainment.
Drama
Currently in production in Sydney is Pulse, a new 8 x 1 hour medical drama for the ABC. The series, set in a western suburbs teaching hospital, is inspired by a true story of a transplant patient who became a doctor. It stars Claire van der Boom (Sisters of War) as Frankie Bell, a second year practising doctor who, eight years after her own kidney transplant, is set to start on a renal rotation. Also starring Andrea Demetriades (Janet King), Owen Teale (Game of Thrones), Liam McIntyre (Spartacus: War of the Damned), Susie Porter (Puberty Blues), Arka Das (Top of The Lake), Penny Cook (A Country Practice), Blessing Mokgohloa (Hunters), Pallavi Sharda (Lion) and Renee Lim (Please Like Me). Shooting until May 31.
The series was created by Kris Wyld, Michael Miller and Mel Hill. It’s produced by Krys Wyld and Antony I. Ginnane, with Beyond Entertainment’s David Ogilvy and Ron Saunders and the ABC’s Sally Riley and Kym Goldsworthy as executive producers.
